Our organization is based on the belief that the children we help are of the utmost importance. It is also our belief that a comfortable bed allows for a good night's sleep and is key to a child's development and sense of well being. Our entire team is dedicated to this mission.

 

 

 

 

In 2005, I had a dream to help single mothers learn skills to better their lives and the lives of their children.  I realized that children have no control over their surroundings or well-being.  I started by helping a few women with their interviewing skills, creating a resume.  In meeting with them at their homes I quickly realized that the children, in most cases, did not have beds to sleep on.  When asked about their children,  they said if it came to the choice of feeding their children or buying furniture, the food was always priority.

 

It started with a 2 year old child who had outgrown his crib and was sleeping on a sofa.  After delivering that first bed, I knew God had given me my true mission.  I cannot describe the feeling of watching a little boy run to get his pajamas on in the middle of the day just so he could go to sleep in his new bed.

 

I have been so blessed to be a part of Beds For Kids, Inc.  God has always brought the children to us that we need to help.  He has always provided the beds from donations that we need for them.  From the 1st 2 year old boy we helped to a 16 year old boy that had never had a bed his entire life, I am honored to be able to help these children.

 

I gain joy everytime I see a child choose a bed over a toy. I have had a mother call me with tears in her eyes and voice and thank me for the bed we delivered to her 7 year old little girl.  Her little girl had invited all her friends over to their house that day because she now has a real bedroom. 

 

I will never know how these beds might change a child's life but it gives me such satisfaction to know that it might improve their lives a little.  It has been refreshing to see others share this vision with me. There are no words to describe the look on someone's face in December when they get to play Santa Clause and deliver toys to children that would not have anything on Christmas morning otherwise.

 

From picking the name Beds For Kids in 2005 to becoming Incorporated in 2008 and selecting a Board of Directors in 2009, it has been an amazing path.  May God Bless You for your support of this organization.  Our children appreciate your help and so do I.
